Epitalon

synthetic tetrapeptide bioregulator

Evidence: other human studyReviewed 2026-08-09

Investigated uses

  • Insomnia, circadian endpoints and longevity-related biomarkers in weak literature.

Mechanism and hypotheses

  • No clinically established mechanism for insomnia, longevity or disease modification has been demonstrated.
  • Hypothesized: Telomerase, circadian and epigenetic effects are predominantly laboratory or weak human hypotheses.

Human evidence

  • FDA found no clinical efficacy study establishing Epitalon for insomnia; reported melatonin-metabolite changes are not clinical outcomes. Limitations: Sparse, difficult-to-verify literature and no robust controlled outcome evidence.

Safety highlights

  • Human adverse-event reporting is sparse and not adequate to estimate incidence.
  • Long-term effects on cell proliferation, telomere biology and immune response are unknown.

Regulatory context

No FDA-approved Epitalon drug was identified. In July 2026, PCAC recommended Epitalon-related bulk drug substances for possible inclusion on the 503A Bulks List for insomnia. The recommendation is nonbinding and was not a final FDA listing as of August 9, 2026.
